Carved Human Skull Holy Relic Rental/Talisman Commission Guidelines Updated

The well-known skull carver and prop creator, Zane Wylie, has updated the requirements for clients wishing to rent Holy Relics, or have Talismans created with them.

While many know of Zane Wylie for his role in creating lifelike skull props for film and television, the artist also uses authentic Holy Relics in some of his work, either as a model or to create Talismans. A set of updated guidelines is available on the artist’s website that explains the requirements for having a Talisman or weapon created using a Holy Relic, or for rental of the Relic itself.

Wylie has been working with Holy Relics for several years, occasionally embedding a verified relic into one of his artistic creations, for collectors and religious rites such as exorcisms. The updated guidelines for rentals or commissions include a requirement for significant donations to charitable organizations before the artist will consider any request.

Though the artist will accept commissions to create Talismans using Holy Relics, they are not for sale. After creating them, Wylie maintains control over the items and will rent them out only to the individual or organization that commissioned them. They must be returned to the artist after each use. The minimum fee for such a creation is $8,000, with 75% going to a charity for widows and orphans.

One piece created by Wylie, called the War Chaplain skull, contains a verified Relic of the True Cross.

After starting out creating real and replica carved skulls for collectors, Wylie became known in the film industry for his realistic creations, which have now been featured in a variety of television series and major films. The artist has also been approached by several producers interested in making a series about his own life as a skull carving artist, and talks are currently in progress.

Currently, Wylie’s work can be found on his website, in collections around the world, and in hidden locations around Universal Studios. After learning that some artists were crafting themed pieces and hiding them around Universal Studios to be found by fans, Wylie joined the action, adding his own Hogwarts-themed skulls to the park.

The first hidden skull was found in minutes, and now it is not uncommon for fans to watch for his appearance at the park, knowing it likely signals another hidden skull to be found somewhere on the premises.
