Owners of restaurants and bars across Cleveland, Ohio, and surrounding areas can now get help maximizing their Employee Retention Tax Credit (ERTC) rebate from the recently launched partnership between Cottage Digital Media and ERTC specialist accountants.

—
Since the ERTC program was first created in 2020, it has gone through several changes that have expanded the eligibility and increased the amount employers can claim in rebates. The application process recently launched by Cottage Digital Media and ERTC specialist accountants helps Ohio business owners to claim the maximum rebate they are due.

Local owners of restaurants, bars, entertainment facilities, or movie theaters who received funds from the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) originally could not qualify for ERTC until amendments to the program in 2021 made them eligible. This newly announced application tool allows these employers to claim a rebate of up to $26,000 per W-2 employee, even if they are enrolled in the PPP.
Business owners who have already filed their 941 returns for 2020 and 2021 are still eligible for rebates, and the ERTC specialist accountants can assist them in filing an amendment to make their claim. Unlike the PPP, tax rebates are not a loan, and they do not need to be repaid. There are also no restrictions on how tax rebates can be spent.
To determine the eligibility of a company, Cottage Digital Media has a no-cost test on its website, which employers can complete with no obligation. The assessment includes 10 simple questions and requires no proprietary business information.
Eligible employers will receive a link to a secure portal after completing the eligibility assessment, where they can complete their ERTC claim. To receive a rebate, they will be asked to upload their 941 returns, PPP loan documents, and raw payroll data, so the specialist accountants can calculate their maximum allowable tax credits.
Every claim is completed by ERTC specialist accountants, and refunds are processed daily. There is no cost to employers who do not qualify for and claim a rebate.
The program is also open to restaurants and bars operating in Pennsylvania, Michigan, Virginia, California, and Illinois with less than 500 full-time staff on average.
To be eligible, employers must have at least five W-2 employees who are not their immediate family members and have had their business impacted by the pandemic. That could include losing the use of their dine-in facilities, being open for reduced hours, or having a reduced indoor capacity.
