Maryland Medicare Options announced today that they will be carrying three new Medicare Advantage Plans available in Maryland’s Eastern Shore region. This represents a major shift in the availability of Medicare Part C plans in the eastern region of Maryland.
Information about these new plans is available at https://www.marylandmedicareoptions.com/eastern-shore-medicare-advantage-plans/. The three new plans for 2022 and expansion offerings come from Humana, United Healthcare and Maryland’s newest Medicare Advantage insurance carrier, Alterwood Health.
Humana will be offering LPPO plans in both western Maryland and the Eastern Shore, United Healthcare will expand into the Eastern Shore with a Dual Special Needs Plan (DSNP) as well as various other counties in Maryland and Alterwood Health will offer four different plans throughout Maryland including the Eastern Shore region. The Alterwood Health Medicare Advantage Plan even includes a plan option to receive a “give-back” into the eligible senior’s Social Security Check each month, further offsetting the cost of the plan.
All three companies will offer these expansion plans starting in 2022 on the Eastern Shore covering the counties of Caroline, Cecil, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne’s, and Talbot. The addition of these plans to these counties creates a positive impact on the lives of seniors with added healthcare options, affordable coverage and a variety of benefits previously unavailable in these areas.

Eastern Shore Medicare Advantage plans will start on January 1st, 2022 and will likely change for the better over the years with new competitors entering the Maryland market. This benefits not only independent brokers like Mr. Palmiotto, but ultimately helps those that are eligible for Medicare.
