Age UK has published new research that shows just how crushingly hard day to day life has been for millions of older people during the pandemic and how important it is that we support our older population through the winter.
Those who are not very well and have long term health conditions were particularly likely to report that this is an extremely challenging time for them. Months of being cooped up at home have led to muscle weakness, increased levels of anxiety and depression, and fear of the virus – an invisible deadly enemy even made many too afraid to go out.
For the past 25 years, the Good Companions ( Cumbria ) Ltd has been at the forefront of caring for the elderly in Cumbria, and throughout the UK. From the Silloth Residential Care Home ( Cumbria), to their Domiciliary and 24 Hour Home Care Services, they have kept up this proud tradition. Throughout the pandemic, the Good Companions have strived to find new initiatives to help and improve their levels of care. From the creation of a new secure Dementia Unit, massive investment in PPE and Corona Protocols, to the abolition of Management Fees ( until 01 June 2020 ) for their 24 Hour Home Care; and the recent opening of the new Care Shop in Penrith ( Lake District).
New for 2021 is a chauffeur-driven appointments service, where professional drivers will tailor journeys to individual requirements, which includes shopping calls, domestic calls, Doctor and Hospital visits, and Covid vaccinations. Remarkably, the first transportation will be Free!
This Includes home collection, then to the destination, waiting for you, and then being taken home again. Transport is in the Good Companion’s Luxury Mercedes – with your chauffeur.
When announcing the Chauffeur Service, Mark Newby, Managing Director of the Good Companions said that “ this should really help the older people of Cumbria and South West Scotland, to reach their doctors and hospital appointments with confidence – knowing that a trained professional will wait for them and take them safely home, and should help to overcome the fear and anxiety of going outside.
The chauffeur service follows Covid-19 protocols and can supply additional care staff for journeys. Requests should be booked in advance. The Free offer is subject to a Care Assessment, which can be conducted online or by phone, and is also complimentary.
Their chauffeurs are prepared to deliver extra effort to assist clients and will take you there in comfort, style, and safety. They will wait for you whilst you attend your appointment and then take you home. The Good Companion’s Chauffeurs want what’s best for clients, and follow all necessary steps to make their travel safe, and comfortable.
