An expert in local marketing says it’s not difficult to find new customers. His statement shocked a lot of people considering the amount of retail closings that are going on all around the country. But he is sticking to his guns and says that if local business would do just one thing, they would have more customers walking through the door this holiday season.
“If I could give every local business owner one piece of marketing advice, it would be to get their business in front of online shoppers,” says a spokesman from FindUsLocal.com, an online business directory that offers free advertising to local business owners. “It sounds counter
intuitive, but it’s not,” he says.
He says that almost all of today’s consumers look online when they want to find a local business. “It happens because people are used to doing everything online, and that includes finding local businesses,” he says.. And that if local shops and restaurants can’t be found online, they are likely missing out on a lot of business. “It’s the holiday season,” he says, “and all those shoppers are looking for local businesses to shop in. But if they can’t find information about them online, they will go someplace else.”
He recommends creating a free local business listing on an online business directory. “Most shoppers use these directories when they want to find a local business, so it only makes sense to have yours listed on one.”
