An Oklahoma realtor and real estate team founder has just released a video for fellow real estate agents about goal planning to prepare for a success year next year.
In her video released just this week, Ruthie Gallardo-Owens, founder of the Oklahoma Real Estate Experts gives guidance on how she prepares each year at the end of the year for a successful next year and shares her strategies for other realtors like her.
“I want to talk to my fellow realtors to make sure that, just like myself, you are getting ready to have a successful 2022,” she said, going on to describe how each year she interviews brokerages, sets goals for the next year and reflects on the past year.
For her first item of interviewing brokers, she said interviews three brokerages, including her own, not out of a desire to change brokerages, but rather to stay updated on brokerage offerings.
“You need to really keep up with the changes that are happening within your own brokerage, because there’s going to come a time where, although your brokerage may have served you very well in the initial time of your career, it may no longer be serving where you’re going. It’s about keeping an eye on what’s happening out there,” she said.
“Again, often, I’ve gone years without ever switching. So, it’s not about switching, just about you being well informed.”
Next, she advises realtors to set goals in November for the next year.
“Don’t wait until January,” she said. “Goals that you start working on now, that you have time through the end of the year to really flesh out you are going to be more likely to stick than those that you just come up on the fly in January because that’s what you feel that everyone is doing and that’s what you have to do.”
For her last item, Gallardo-Owens suggests realtors planning the next year to review the past year.
“So, it’s November, you have plenty of data to reflect on from 2021. Reflect on what goals did you achieve that you set back at the beginning of the year. You you achieved them.”
She advised real estate agents to look at. goals achieved and those not achieved, and why they met success or not.
“Let’s evaluate those and reflect upon those decisions we made in order to make sure that we bring the ones that still need to be worked on to the next year, and that we just get some closure on the ones that will not be our goals for the future.”
