Traditional burial is expecting a glooming future as it falls behind cremation as the preferred choice of the burial of residents of Denver, Colorado.
—
Cremation was once a taboo practice of disposing of a departed body. Right now, it has proved its way towards societal acceptance. A lot of people have accepted the practice that even religious groups are now open to this option.
The advent of cremation has put traditional burial into just the second choice of the preferred method. In a recent survey, 1,500 Americans are asked about their burial preferences. It was reported that 44% of Americans plan on being cremated, while traditional burials, on the other hand, were moved to the second option with just 35% of the respondents. It is expected to be higher in the years to come.
“Residents of Colorado are no different,” said Kevin Lornall, a licensed funeral director and owner of Sierra Cremations, a cremation service provider in Denver. “People are opting for cremation for a number of reasons. “Since a lot of unique burial ideas are in trend right now, people find cremation as an accommodating option to their preferences. Americans are getting creative when it comes to the final disposition of their departed loved ones. Sentimental ones opt to stay close by turning cremation remains into a piece of jewelry, while others wanted to scatter their ashes to different places such as forests or oceans. In fact, 1 out of 10 people wants to be planted as a tree” he added.
On the other hand, Kevin also believes that cost is undeniably one of the reasons why people are opting for cremation. An average traditional burial may cost around $7,000 to $8,000 while in cremation, people can find deals and packages that can reduce the total cost to $3,000 to $6,000.
