Due to continuing border closures during the peak fishing season in British Columbia, many local residents will be able to book fishing packages that are usually unavailable.

King Pacific Lodge is one of BC’s premier fishing lodges. The Milbanke Sound located lodge is a hot spot for popular fishing such as Chinook, King, Coho and Silver Salmon. The lodge itself is strategically located along the migration route making it the perfect place to book a fishing package vacation.
During a regular year, King Pacific welcomes fishing enthusiasts from all over the globe, with a large number of visitors heading across the border from the US to take advantage of BC’s ideal fishing conditions.
This year, due to the COVID pandemic locking down the US/Canada border, BC residents now have ample opportunity to book a fishing package in their own backyard. And what’s more, they can book during the highly coveted peak season of July and August.
“This year is absolutely unique in that some resorts, guides, and charters have prime dates available. In some cases, these vacation dates are usually booked years in advance and are now available to last minute bookings,” stated Matt Jennings, executive director of the BC Fishing Tourism Association.
Over the next few weeks, the website fishingbc.com will be sharing the availability and vacancies of BC fishing experiences, not only to help BC residents get out and fish, but to help the local economy by filling in gaps left by US bookings.
“No other place on the planet has the diversity or length of season that B.C. has. Our province also has a significant number of fishing resorts, angling guides, and fishing charters to help cater to every budget of traveller.”
BC’s offerings include everything from day fishing trips, to boat charters, to fly-in world-class lodges such as King Pacific.
Despite the challenges found in these times, this unique summer is a rare opportunity for British Columbians to experience these fishing experiences during the peak season.
