RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh-based marketing agency The Department of Marketing has added a new Chief Operating Officer, company leaders announced today.
Ali Smith will help lead with partner/owner George Wallace, who launched the firm in 2003.
Smith has spent more than 10 years in content marketing and marketing strategy for both B2B and B2C businesses. She comes to the DofM after years as a marketing director for a financial services company. Smith’s work at The DofM will include content and social media strategy for the agency and its clients, as well as daily operations.
Her knowledge is an asset for the agency’s mix of clients, Wallace said.
“Ali’s strategic way of looking at growth and branding for clients is perfect for this time in our company’s history,” Wallace said. “As we all look at 2021 and where things will go, I’m thrilled to have her insight and experience.”
Smith earned a dual bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh. She also holds a number of digital marketing certifications and a paralegal certificate.
“I’m really looking forward to putting my strategy experience and creativity to work for The DofM and our clients,” Smith said of her new role. “The company is primed for incredible growth. I’m excited to be a part of that growth and to see not only what we can achieve for The DofM but also the strides our clients can make right along with us as a result.”
Smith will succeed outgoing COO Jennifer Suarez, who began at The DofM in 2013. Suarez will complete the transition to Smith before her departure sometime in mid-February.
