Social Model Recovery Systems Director of Education Judy Redman will lead three-hour session, which will be open to community and free for InterCoast students

—
The InterCoast Colleges West Covina campus will host a public IC&RC/CCAPP exam preparation session on October 24 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. to be led by Judy Redman, Ph.D., M.Ed., M.B.A. The session will prepare students to pass the International Certification & Reciprocity Consortium (IC&RC) test needed to become a California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals (CCAPP) Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC).
Open to members of the community and free of charge for InterCoast Colleges students, the CCAPP Test Prep session will focus on practical tips that will help future alcohol and drug counseling professionals prepare for and pass the exam. Presently the Director of Education for Social Model Recovery Systems, Inc., Redman has been an addiction studies educator since 2004 and also serves on the Board of Directors for the California Association of Alcohol & Drug Educators (CAADE). Attendees who complete the session will be eligible for three CCAPP, CAADE, or California Board of Nursing continuing education-hour credits. More information is available at the InterCoast Colleges website.
“Passing the IC&RC exam is an important step on the way to becoming a CCAPP Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor,” Redman said. “This demanding, highly respected test is designed to ensure that students have the skills, ethical grounding, and knowledge needed to become effective substance use disorder counselors. As an educator in the field for nearly 15 years, I have learned how to equip students with the strategies they need to prepare for and pass the IC&RC/CCAPP exam. Whether for InterCoast students or other community members, I believe our October 24 IC&RC Test Prep session will be truly helpful.”
The IC&RC was founded in 1981 to set standards and develop credentialing examinations for substance use disorder prevention, treatment, and recovery professionals. As one of 73 current IC&RC member organizations, CCAPP mandates that applicants pass the group’s written examination, among other requirements, in order to obtain any of its three Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor designations. The October 24 training session at the West Covina InterCoast Colleges campus will help alcohol and drug counseling students prepare for this important test.
