LA Drought Tolerant Landscape Experts Flores Artscape Interviewed by Tokyo TV

Flores Artscape, a leading Los Angeles landscape company, was interviewed for a Japanese business TV show to document how they were helping with the LA drought by promoting, designing and installing drought-tolerant landscapes.

Cosmo Space of America, a Japanese television production company, interviewed Flores Artscape on drought-tolerant landscaping to document how landscaping companies are helping with water savings during drought conditions in LA. The interview will be aired by Tokyo TV for a business news program called “Mirai Seiki Zipangu” (Future Century Zipangu). (“Zipangu” is a popularized name for “Japan”.)

Japan has recently had the opposite problem of Los Angeles with record-breaking rains & flooding in July. But there’s an interest in how this type of landscaping is done, and the plants that are used. And from a business angle they wanted to know about the turf replacement rebates available in LA.

Japan has a rich history of gardening, particularly their Zen gardens which originated in 1251. Drought-tolerant landscaping has elements in common with Zen gardens. Coincidentally Flores Artscape is calling some of their recent drought-tolerant projects “California Zen” because of their simplicity, and the peaceful feeling one gets being in them.

Flores Artscape was established in 2004 and has become one of the leading landscape design & installation companies in Los Angeles. They were picked because one of their specialties is drought-tolerant landscaping.

Flores Artscape owner Rumaldo Flores was interviewed in an April 2015 article by the “LA Times” called “A guide to rebates on drought-tolerant landscaping”. Besides talking about what was involved in replacing lawns, Rumaldo mentioned that lavender, rosemary, salvia, and succulents were some of the most popular replacement plants.

The interview by Ryuji Motoyama from Cosmo Space of America with Jessie Flores took place at a recent front-yard drought-tolerant landscape project by Flores Artscape. A variety of succulents and other low-water plants were used and drip-irrigation was installed. This lowers water use & cost dramatically.

This type of landscaping has become increasingly popular with the drought situation in LA. Many are turning to it as an eco-friendly alternative. Others look to it as a way to cut down on maintenance time & cost.

Flores Artscape had a busy media month in July. Rumaldo Flores was interviewed by “This is LA”, a highly-rated TV lifestyle show by Circle 8 Production, that’s in its second season on KCBS. And by “LA Home”, a show on Focus TV Network, America’s first streaming video talk show network.

Earlier this year both Rumaldo Flores and Flores Artscape each received a Certificate of Recognition from the LA mayor for their contributions to the community and the company maintaining exceptional service ratings.

Also this year Flores Artscape received the Best Business of 2018 award from Three Best Rated, the 2018 Best of Houzz Service award and the Super Service Award from Angie’s List in four categories: Landscaping, Stone & Gravel, Lawn Irrigation, and Landscaping—Hardscaping & Pavers.
