Leadville Trail Race & Charity Fundraising Campaign Announced By Run 100 for Mom

Run 100 for Mom announced that Ocala businessman Craig Bachrodt completed the Leadville Trail 100 in honor of his mom and all mothers. The race took place on August 20th, 2022, raising funds for 5 charities.

The local auto dealership owner ran the 100-mile race across the Rocky Mountain terrain to raise funds for the Leadville Trail 100 Legacy Foundation, Lifetime Foundation, Go Campaign, Save the Children, and Smile Train. Donors can visit the website to choose their preferred charity to support.

The purpose of the race is to honor the memory of the long-distance runner’s mom, who passed away in November last year. Those who make a donation can leave a tribute message on the website for their own mom or for any woman that has made an impact in their life. The race participant explains that sharing stories of loved ones ensures that their legacies live on and builds connections with others.

“I decided to run Leadville not just for my mom, but for other moms and for charity. So, I created run100formom.com,” said Craig Bachrodt. “Through that website, anyone can donate any amount in the name of their mom, or their grandmother or aunt, any woman who nurtured them and encouraged them to get outside and be active.”

The Leadville Trail 100 began in 1983 and covers 100 miles of challenging terrain, reaching 12,620 feet at the highest point. The circuit passes from Leadville through Sugarloaf Pass, Mount Elbert, Twin Lakes, Hope Pass, and Winfield.

Less than half of all participants (245/800) finished the race within the 30-hour time limit. The Run 100 for Mom(s) campaign founder Craig Bachrodt finished in 29 hours, 3 minutes and 32 seconds. His story has been featured in Ocala Style Magazine and on page B2 of the Ocala Gazette. The feature can be found at https://www.ocalagazette.com/ocala-gazette-july-15-july-21-2022

The selected charities support the needs of local Leadville and Lake County communities and the lives of children globally. The campaign’s goal is to reach $100,000 by December 31st 2022 which will then be matched by Craig.

Craig Bachrodt was introduced to sport and fitness as a child by his mom Sarah Bachrodt – a keen athlete and notable abstract artist. He accompanied her on his first run as a young teenager and went on to participate in track and cross-country teams throughout his education. Craig has continued to run regularly alongside his career in business management. He is the proprietor of Palm Chevrolet in Ocala, following his family’s tradition in the auto dealership trade.
