At 18 years old and with no English, he upped sticks across the globe, working for free to learn the real estate basics. In a dramatic turn of events, he then spent two years in New York City obtaining a real estate broker’s license before finally settling in London for the past three years, where he now earns an impressive £25k per month with his properties.
Despite facing many challenges along the way, this young go-getter has never given up on his goals. His passion and determination have driven him to success, enabling him to live wherever he wants, travel the world, and have fun doing it in style after dropping out of New York University to come to the UK and pursue his career.
Many people consider real estate for flexible jobs and earning potential, but few successfully make the jump. How do you get started?
“I always recommend, first and foremost: education is incredible. But, it’s not the key. Knowledge without execution is useless. Not only do people need to become educated on real estate but all the magic is in the action.
People keep dilly-dallying for way too long. They take too long in the learning phases because they’re scared.”
He was inspired by Tim Ferriss’s “The 4-Hour Workweek,” which encouraged him to delegate all tasks and work only four hours a week.
Samy Daim recalls one of his favourite inspirational business quotes: “Freedom will only come when you no longer trade your time for money.” He firmly believes that university is a trap for the academically gifted, as it entices the brightest to keep learning to avoid boredom in the real world. Instead, he chose to learn by doing, gaining practical experience and repackaging his extensive knowledge to find immense success in business.
A Tale of Rags to Riches
Daim’s road to success was not always smooth, having experienced dire living conditions, homelessness, and sleeping in shelters along the way. Yet, he persevered to obtain a real estate broker’s license in his second language in the bustling city of New York and reach new heights in one of the trickiest markets in the world: London. Now, his hard work has paid off and paved the way for an even more exciting future.
