Chip Weighknecht and Gil Perloni have officially launched a new website at https://www.FishBaxApparel.com to finally make custom ‘Fish Backs’ shirts available to the general public and decided to name is “Fishbax” You can view the species and products they offer at their website.
This is a unique concept. Shirts are custom made to the preference of the fisherman / woman to look like actual fish. They use photographs of real fish, and transfer them exactly into 100% polyester shirts made in the United States. Not only are these naturally very beautiful, they are rugged shirts designed for sports men and women providing thermal and cooling effects. They protect you from UV Rays harmful to your skin and are easy to care for.
They have adopted a a concept of “Wear Your Species – It’s Fishbax Baby!” You can hear them share their story on their new website and order these new shirts. You get to choose from many species they already have or custom order any species that you prefer.

Here is their story
In September, 2018, Chip Weighknecht and Gil Perloni decided to hit the lake to do some bass and crappie fishing. That morning started out a little slow for the first two hours, only catching three fish in that time frame. After the two hours they said to each other “It looks like the fish beat us today” and they decided to come back in. As they where coming back to the boat launch they decided to do some trolling to see if they could get something to hit. When they got about a half a mile away, something hit the line and it was another crappie in the boat, and then they dropped anchor to see if they could get some more, but that turned out to be an understatement! They were catching so many fish they had to stop because there was no more bait to throw or anymore lures, it was crazy! In fact, in an hour they both caught their limit of crappies.
As they got off the lake and drove home, Chip volunteered to go buy some lures, so they could go back the next week and hit it again, but little did they know that their life was going to change by being co-owners of an outdoor apparel company!
In October 2018 Chip had the idea of creating shirts that look just like a fish. Gil laughed about it, but after he was done laughing, said he would consider it, but never did. For two weeks, everyday, Chip kept calling Gil asking him what he found out and finally Gil said “Are you serious about this?” – because he was too busy to entertain this, if he wasn’t, and Chip said “Yes, I’m serious.”
Gil went to work looking for an artist that could do what they needed, and that was not an easy task. Finally, Gil contacted Ron. Ron could take any idea that they come up with and help them bring it to life, as you can now see in their designs. The next task was to find a manufacturer to take on the project. Ron helped them with that as well and sent them over to Cyberhorse in California where they have great customer service and turnaround times for Fishbax LLC. When they came up with the idea, they also needed a product that could be UV protected for people out fishing everyday and Cyberhorse made that possible as well.
The first shirt that was designed and printed was the Crappie, from that day in September when they caught all those fish and it was an odd decision since Chip and Gil are avid bass fishermen. The first approved shirt design was complete on November 9, 2018 and delivery of the final product was two weeks after that.
When Gil saw the finished product in his hands, he called Chip to let him know the shirts where in and said “I need to apologize to you because we have a winner here that people are going to want!”
They decided to fill the market with fresh water and salt water species and develop any other species that people may want. Ron and their manufacturer are on board and ready to go at a moment’s notice, when the orders come in.
Chip and Gil seem to be a good balance for each other when things do not want to go their way. They have had some obstacles but had each other’s back and have stopped each other from saying the wrong things.
Fishbax is a family owned business that has two families with the same common interest of putting out a product that people want.
