New York International Beer Competition (https://nyibeercompetition.com) proudly announces the latest competition in the International Beverage Competition Series recently took place in New York. Due to its overwhelming success, the organization now replicates the event in multiple countries, and events include wine and beer competitions.

“What sets us apart from other international beverage competitions is our trade-only blind judging panel, and the beverage industry has continued to take notice as our competitions have grown. At our beer competition held here in New York City, the retail store buyer, cicerone, restaurant beverage director, hotelier, distributor and importer will be our judges. We feel that these judges, whose livelihood relies upon their skill set, truly know what the consumer wants, as they receive on a daily basis feedback from the consumer of what is good and what will sell,” Adam Levy, founder of New York International Beer Competition, announces.

New York serves as the perfect location for this event. It stands as the ideal food and travel destination thanks to the nationally and internationally recognized beverage industry professionals who call it home. In addition, people know the city as a media capital. With the help of the media sponsors, New York International Beer Competition shares results on the local, national, and international levels.

“We encourage consumers and trade professionals alike to try all of the beers that took home awards from the New York International Beer Competition this year. We were impressed by the quality and variety of submissions to the competition this year, and we’re certain that there’s something for everyone to enjoy among the products that took home awards,” Levy continues.

Begin planning for next year’s event now. All beverages undergo judging by a minimum of four trade professionals, which takes place in the host city. Medals are awarded on a merit basis by majority vote and only go to those beverages that the trade buyers would import, distribute, buy, and sell. Now is the time to find out how to enter the competition, as no beverage company should miss out on taking part in this much-anticipated annual event.

“Beverage companies find this is the perfect opportunity to get their product before industry trade buyers and real people who enjoy fine beverages. Don’t miss out. Plan your participation today, and you could find yourself enjoying one of the many perks of winning, including being featured in articles by our media partners,” Levy recommends.

About New York International Beer Competition:

The International Beverage Competitions are the first major international beverage competitions that feature trade-only judges who decide by category and actual price.

They consist of people who are buyers from top retail stores, restaurant and bar owners, distributors, and importers. Unlike other competitions, these judges have purchasing power and the ability to make a direct impact on brand sales.

The second major difference is that each submission will not only be placed in its product category but also its pricing category. Therefore, a spirit will be judged in its category along with other spirits in the same price range by its retail price. Each category will have its own pricing levels and is listed on the submission form. So for example a whiskey that retails for $50 will be judged with other whiskeys in that price range and not with whiskeys that retail for $100. Judges will then know if they are judging a $54 bottle vs a $68 bottle of Irish Whiskey.

The International Beverage Competitions Group was founded by Adam Levy, the “Alcohol Professor” (https://www.alcoholprofessor.com/). Mr. Levy was inspired to start the competitions after reading an article by Lew Bryson in Malt Advocate Magazine, now called Whisky Advocate, asking why their ratings differ from many of the international competitions out there. In the article, Mr. Bryson stated that over 80% of those who submit to many of these competitions including those on the West Coast of the USA and in the UK win a medal. That inspired Mr. Levy, a New York native, to open up shop in New York, and we’re proud to state that his competitions are not “Medal Factories,” and in fact less than 50% of those who submit win a medal. That’s why they’ve become one of the most respected competition series in the world.
