Alpharetta psychology practice, Positive Living Psychotherapy, welcomes a new Marriage and Family Therapist to the counseling team. Jessica Bassett, MFT, is now accepting patients, including couples, families, and teens, at the North Point office.
Bassett brings experience working in residential inpatient, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs. She holds a Bachelor of Science from Kennesaw State University, graduating on the Dean’s List in Psychology. She also earned a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy and Counseling from Capella University. Bassett is a member of the Delta Kappa International Marriage and Family Therapy Honor Society.
Bassett’s clinical interests include marital discord, self-esteem, family cohesion, and adolescent eating disorders. She has specialized training in Family-Based Treatment (FBT) to treat adolescents with eating disorders. Bassett has completed Level 1 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and uses Gottman Method Couples Therapy in her work.
“Through the therapeutic process, I create a safe space for my clients to process difficult emotions and identify their counseling goals,” said Bassett. “We work together so each client or client family can respond more effectively to negative thinking patterns that may get in the way of their positive relationships.”
Bassett joins Clinical Psychologist Maureen Keown, who opened the doors at Positive Living Psychotherapy in 2005. Keown bases the practice on a positive psychology approach along with aspects of traditional psychotherapy. The Alpharetta practice specializes in treating adults and older adolescents with well-researched modalities of psychotherapy.
“At Positive Living, we view each person as an individual capable of living life to its fullest potential,” said Keown. “Here, we provide a friendly, compassionate, and non-judgmental environment and strive to empower clients to make real, long-lasting changes in their lives so they can experience a greater sense of contentment and peace.”
