Having turned their business into a super-successful, six-figure enterprise that supplies anything from Jordan’s to Off-Whites to Louis Vuitton’s, the owners of Boston Cooks, Brandan and Tyler were nice enough to speak to us for a while about how they came to be where they are today.
It all started back in middle school, the brothers tell us, when Tyler bought his first pair of shoes with his own money. Quickly wising up to the benefits of reselling products, he swiftly pulled his brother in on it and over the next years, they spent countless mornings camping out in front of stores for a big release, and even getting their friends to wait in line for them.
Now, Tyler and Brandan are at the head of one of the most successful reselling businesses of the decade. Their business primarily consists of caring for their own reselling endeavors, while also helping others rise to the top and learn the ropes through a highly supportive Facebook presence, as well as a paid monthly subscription to deliver all the tips and tricks on how you can make reselling a gainful business.
Recently (and we mean very recently, as in summer of 2020), the brothers launched their latest endeavor. After having successfully won over the shoe market, they have recently come out with ANML Supply, an interesting clothing company with a focus on providing casual streetwear, while also giving back. Indeed, many of the brothers’ efforts go to helping protect endangered animals and many of their latest products are animal-themed, so, you know, in case you needed any extra reason to try it out!
But why reselling? We asked our guests what some of the most common misconceptions are about the business, and they were keen to enlighten us.
“In the sneaker industry, one of the biggest misconceptions is definitely being able to secure limited releases and actually being able to find clientele to buy your sneakers. A lot of people think they can just start reselling and secure any sneaker they want, but there’s a lot more to it.”
We also wanted to know how the transition from reselling to making your own product went, since a lot of people who start out as resellers do also plan to make their own someday. Any misconceptions there, boys?
“In the clothing industry, we don’t just have someone printing our merchandise and then we sell them. Every product that comes from ANML Supply is printed by us directly in the basement of our home. The professional packaging is also completely done by us. We often spend all day just folding merchandise and packaging them properly to look as professional as possible.”
So, there is definitely a lot more to it than what meets the eye. What is no doubt interesting about the reselling industry is that it can often develop into something more, and allow you to express yourself creatively, as Brandan and Tyler have done.
